Success

You scroll past post after post on LinkedIn, skimming through your feed.  Posts by acquaintances, former co-workers, even friends.  One about a promotion.  Another working on an exciting new project.  Posts about new jobs, new careers.  On and on.

You feel envious.  Why them?  Why not me?  Why am I not as successful as they are?  It’s easy to get distracted by others’ accomplishments and forget that all of this is temporary.  We get so wrapped up in our careers that we lose sight of what is important.  Paul Tsongas, a famous politician, once said “No one on his deathbed ever said, ‘I wish I had spent more time at the office’”.

Even more famously,  Jesus said “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matt. 6:19 ESV.)

We were made for a greater purpose, created with a plan in mind. (Eph. 2:10).  We are created to be a part of something that is eternal, that will mean something now and in the future.  This purpose is to serve God by serving others just as Jesus did 2,000 years ago, instead of focusing our efforts on building wealth and temporary success.  We invite you to be a part of something bigger than yourself- something that will make a lasting difference.
