Set Free

If you were in prison, how would you like to be free? How much would you think about it? If someone came along, removed you from the prison and freed you, how would you respond? If you were a slave, how would you like to be free? How much would you think about it? If someone came along, removed you from the slavery and freed you, how would you respond? Such freedom would surely bring about tremendous joy, happiness and renewed vigor for life. You might even say that you would never be the same person after that.

Stop for a moment and realize that “Christ has made us free” (Gal. 5:1). Christians have been made “free” by “the truth” of God (John 8:32) and obedience to His will (Rom. 6:17-18). “The Son” has made us “free indeed” (John 8:36)–“freed from” the imprisonment and slavery of “sin” (Rom. 6:7), “free from the law of sin and death” (Rom. 8:2), and “free” from “the power of death” wielded by “the devil” (Heb. 2:14-15). Should that not bring joy, happiness and renewed vigor for a life of service to Him? Do you sometimes forget about your freedom?
