Nebula in the starry sky in an article about God dividing light from the dark.

God Divided the Light from the Darkness

On the very first day of this world’s existence, the Bible says that “God divided the light from the darkness” (Gen. 1:4). Of course, that is talking about the physical light that God created on Day  One being separated from the physical darkness.

But God has also divided the spiritual light from the spiritual darkness (cf. John 1:4-5). The trouble is that man has had a propensity to “put darkness for light, and light for darkness” (Isa. 5:20). Jesus came, as “the light of the world” (John 8:12), to bring men out of spiritual darkness, but “men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

In the very beginning, God divided the physical light from the physical darkness. We cannot change that. But He also divided the spiritual light from the spiritual darkness, and man has spent thousands of years trying to change that. Friends, “light” has no “communion . . . with darkness” (2 Cor. 6:14)! Let us remember that! Let us live our lives in His light!
