I know, they say you shouldn’t do it, but the item was rather expensive and I ended up purchasing the, “Extended coverage” plan that I thought would save me should disaster strike. Imagine my surprise when a little over a month later, the item that we purchased went on the fritz. “No problem,” thought I, “I’m glad I purchased the extended coverage.” Imagine my greater surprise when the “Extended coverage” did not extend to our problem. So, after expressing my thoughts about the matter to the poor employee who got the short straw in helping me, walking out of the store in anger, then having to go back into the store and apologize the employee, I resigned myself to never purchase an extended warranty again. Besides, a good product comes with a lifetime guarantee…
This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message that God gave to the world at the proper time.
(1 Timothy 2:3-6)
We live in a throw away society—if it breaks throw it away. Yet, our Father sees broken lives and longs for us to be reconciled to Him. God sent Christ as our guarantee. Oh, we can put our faith many things but unless our faith is based on God, then it is as empty as my “extended coverage.” Christ gave His life in exchange for ours. Without Christ we are broken because of the ravages of sin. Broken and bound in our sin, Christ comes and repairs our hearts and lives, He makes them stronger and teaches us to love. Therefore, the verse is worth looking at once more with the eyes of someone who has been broken “For, there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.” GUARANTEED!
