Be Prepared!

Have you ever been in a catastrophic event such as an earthquake or a tornado, where your life was turned upside down in an instant? One moment all seems well, then, suddenly, all that matters is survival. All of our other plans or worries of the day vanish and we find ourselves singularly focused on getting through the overwhelming dilemma that we are facing. The truth is that if we don’t survive that event then nothing else will matter.

Isn’t that what we all will face on the day of judgment? The only difference is that when that day comes, there will be nothing that we can do to fix things if we haven’t done so already. But we are blessed because there is a sure way to be ready and to make that a glorious day rather than a day to fear. That way is through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way that we can confidently face Judgment Day. And so, just as the newscasters might tell us to be prepared for disasters, we should listen to the gospel and be prepared for when we all have to face God.
